Shergaon Forest Division organized a nature film festival in Rupa during 4th – 5th June, 2011 to highlight issues of conservation of nature and environment. The aim of the nature film festival was to motivate and inspire action towards environmental conservation. The two day film fest screened about eight renowned nature documentaries of Planet Earth series and many short duration awareness modules on energy, transport, farming, water, wastes and paper. The festival attracted more than 300 viewers during the course of two days.

Quiz competitions for students based on the showcased movies were also conducted. The prizes won by students of Pinewood and Roopland School were given away by Shri. DK Thongdok, former Minister and the SDO, Rupa during the last session on Sunday, 5th June, 2011.
Information leaflets on ‘Tips for eco-living’ were distributed. A month long series of awareness drives were also started for different laborer camps of various development projects on issues of bird hunting, firewood, forest fires and sanitation near rivers.
