LAND BANK




Land Bank is identified by the Forest Department for compensatory afforestation against forest land diverted for development purposes. The Division has so far identified 1220.60 hectares for the purpose, with the cooperation of local communities. Final notification is issued for 318 hectares in Thungri village near Rupa. About 70.60 hectares is located in Shergaon against which preliminary notification is issued but final notification is awaited. Remaining 832 hectares were donated by communities in Chingi, Dengzi and Singchung and also agreed to the subsequent declaration as Village Forest Reserves (VFR).  Notification as VRF is still to be done.

PROCEDURE FOR DECLARATION OF CA AREA [LAND BANK] AS VILLAGE FOREST RESERVE [VRF]

  1. Resolution passed by the Village Panchayat for donation of the area to the Forest Department for declaration as VFR duly countersigned by the DFO and DC.
  2. Map of the area in SoI toposheet in 1: 50,000 scale with proper legends and map index showing the area in hectares duly countersigned by the DFO and DC.
  3. Boundary description starting from North then to East, then to South and then to West with proper bearings and latitude / longitude and distance between different points as well as the reference points with toposheet number.
  4. Mutation document of the land in favor of Forest Department and non-encumbrance certificate issued by the DC.
  5. Certificate duly signed by the DFO, regarding suitability of the area for CA, as well as from management point of view and that the area is a non-forest or degraded forest land / degraded community forestland situated outside any notified forestland.
